Bowling Green Foundation Repair

The foundation we build on is everything. I fondly remember singing as a young child a song about a wise man who built his house upon a rock, and a foolish man that built his house on the sand. One day the rains came down, and kept coming down on the earth. Pretty soon it had been days of nonstop brutal rain, which lead to some serious flooding for the people who were living there. It was becoming a serious dangerous situation. But, luckily, the wise man built his house on the sturdiest and strongest foundation he could find; the rock! So, as the floods started to really come up on the wise man's home, he sat and comfortably and watched as the water rushed past his home. The foolish man, however, did not have such a good time. As the rain poured down on his home, he just confidently watched as the ground around his home soaked up the rain. Of course, there was nothing underneath the home, so as the flooding really started to rain down, the home started to sink away. The foolish man realised too late that his home was sinking away into the ground, and tried to escape out of the chimney. He barely survives, and sits on his roof as the water slowly rises over his roof, and prays that he gets saved. God calls down to him that his pride is what will kill him, and he drowned in the water as god watched. Maybe the song was a little dark for a child to be singing, but the story and meaning behind it matters so much to me! Pride is something that we should be scared and wary of how we take care of the foundation of our homes! Home ownership is really important, and taking care of our homes is equally as important as the ownership itself! There’s something so important about learning how to keep your home looking nice, and taking care of your home is a necessity! So today we’re going to talk about what we need to do to get our foundations repairs, what that means for you, your wallet, and when you should know your foundation needs to be fixed. Let’s get right into it!

What is foundation repair?

Knowing when your foundation needs to be repaired is a really big deal. Not only is it literally holding up your entire home, but it also is not exactly always very easy to fix! So, there are a few different signs that you need to look for to know that your home needs to be taken care of by some of the professionals. First, you should be wary of cracking in the foundation. The bigger the crack the more of a problem you have going on down there. Usually, there wouldn’t be much of a problem if there was a crack in the sidewalk, or a little slab of concrete on the side of the road. But when there is a crack in the foundation of your home, then there is at least a call for concern. The best idea when you see something that stresses you out like that, is to first contact a professional. The worst possible thing that you could do is try and handle something like this, and make it worse. DIY is meant for fun crafts with you and the family, not fixing the most critical part of you home. Let’s say that you’re noticing a little bit of bowing in your walls though, and it’s really starting to worry you. There’s good news and there’s bad news for you when you start to notice something like this. First, bad news, your foundation needs to be completely re-poured and redone before you house falls in on your head. The process to fix something like this means that you’re most likely going to need to move your home on stilts or raised up with another slab of concrete, while the crew tears apart the older foundation to make one that is actually level. The good news is that you caught the bowing of the walls before it was too late to fix your home at all. No one wants their roof on their head, and that makes the whole process really easy when you catch it on your own. Foundation repair is something that is more common than you think, and there are hundreds of professionals near you that can help you get your house in order.

Is foundation repair covered by insurance?

Insurance is one of those things that is pretty dicey. If you don’t have home insurance, of course you’re not at all covered, and a repair like foundation repair, would come completely out of your own pocket! Depending on what kind of insurance that you have, and what caused the damage to the foundation, your insurance company might be able to help you out. If flood damage, or earthquake damage, is what has caused all the problems in your foundation, the chances are that your insurance company is going to be able to help you out completely. If you have full coverage of your home, then there’s nothing you need to worry about, and your home will be completely taken care of. I would seriously recommend investing in home insurance, because you never know what could happen to you or your home. Some of the most responsible homeowners understand the lengths that you should go to to take care of their homes.

The best thing about foundation repairs is that it is almost always only need to be repaired a single time to take care of all the problems it once had! Uneven foundations can be easily fixed by just ripping them up, and re-pouring them correctly! Cracking or water damaged foundations can be easily sealed back up without a second thought most of the time. The only thing that could possibly mess up your foundation again is natural disasters that no one can plan for. So, almost all of the time, foundation repair is permanent and easily done!
